Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5 get One UI 8 update in the US

Samsung is expanding the One UI 8.0 (Android 16) update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 to the US.

Last month, Samsung released the One UI 8.0 (Android 16) update to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The brand first offered it in Korea and then expanded the update to Europe. Now, the company is rolling it out in the US.

The update is live for the carrier-locked variants of the two phones. The new firmware for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 carries version F731USQU6FYI8, whereas that for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 carries version F946USQU6FYI8.

To update your Galaxy Z Flip 5 or Galaxy Z Fold 5 to One UI 8, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. One UI 8 offers a more polished user interface and more features over One UI 7, which you can watch in action in our video below.

Samsung is developing One UI 8.5. It is based on Android 16, the same as One UI 8.0, but it offers a newer user interface and even more features. You can read more about it here. The brand is said to debut it with the Galaxy S26 series in February 2026.
