The new security update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is now available with firmware versions F731BXXS3CXGD and F946BXXS3CXGD, respectively. It brings the August 2024 security patch that fixes 49 security vulnerabilities found in the previous versions of the software those phones were running.
The update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is available in the following countries:
If you have either of those two phones and live in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the new update on your device by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, you can manually flash the new firmware file. To do that, download the new firmware file from our database and use the Odin tool to flash it on your phone. You need to be well-versed with the manual firmware flashing, though, and do it at your own risk.
Both phones are currently running Android 14-based One UI 6.1 software, but they will probably get the One UI 6.1.1 update next month. Later this year, both foldable phones will get the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update with a brand-new design, new app icons, improved stock apps, new Galaxy AI features, and fancy new animations and transitions.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 were launched in the second half of last year with Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 software onboard. They both received Galaxy AI features with the One UI 6.1 update earlier this year.
