Samsung is planning to launch three new smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Besides featuring a brand-new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could also bring a massive battery upgrade.
We've discovered that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be powered by a battery with a rated capacity of 784mAh, which Samsung could market as having a typical capacity of 800mAh. That is a 35% increase in capacity compared to the batteries used in the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025).
With the combination of a next-generation chip and a larger battery, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could offer significantly longer battery life than previous Galaxy Watch Ultra models. Samsung could potentially claim battery life of more than three days for its next flagship smartwatch.
In comparison, the 40mm variant of the Galaxy Watch 9 is powered by a 382mAh battery. Samsung could market it as having a typical capacity of 400mAh, representing a 23% increase over the Galaxy Watch 8 40mm's 325mAh battery. We exclusively reported a couple of months ago that the 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch 9 is powered by a 435mAh battery.
All three upcoming Galaxy Watches are expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 series late next month and go on sale sometime in August 2026.
