Samsung recently launched its new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. And they have just started getting their first software update. Usually, as soon as people get their hands on their newly-launched Galaxy phones and watches, they get a bug-fixing update, and this is a similar update.
It is being reported that the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic have received their first software update. The update for the Galaxy Watch 8 series comes with firmware version ending with AYG4 and has a download size of around 164MB. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is also getting an update, and it comes with firmware version ending BYG4 and a download size of around 158MB.
These new updates are currently limited to South Korea, and they could be released in other countries and regions in the next few days. They include bug fixes and stability improvements. None of these smartwatches have received the August 2025 security patch yet. Instead, all three of them are using the May 2025 security patch.
If you have a Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, or Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024 or 2025), you can check for the new update on your smartwatch by opening the Galaxy Wearable app, navigating to Watch settings » Watch software update, and tapping Download and install.
Once the update is downloaded completely, tap the Install now button to start the installation procedure. During the software installation process, your Galaxy Watch will restart after a few minutes.
