Samsung has unveiled its latest high-end tablet lineup, the Galaxy Tab S11 series. It has two models, the Galaxy Tab S11 and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, and they feature a brighter display, thinner and lighter bodies, faster performance, an improved S Pen, and improved multitasking and productivity features.
The Galaxy Tab S11 has an 11-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra sports a 14.6-inch WQXGA+ panel. The displays on both devices are now brighter than the Galaxy Tab S10 series, reaching up to 1,000 nits in the high brightness mode (HBM) and up to 1,600 nits for HDR content. The panels support up to a 120Hz variable refresh rate for a fluid visual experience.
Their screens have an anti-reflection coating and an in-display fingerprint reader, while their quad-speaker setups work with Dolby Atmos.
The tablets now come with a new S Pen that has a hexagonal design resembling a regular pencil. Samsung says they are easier to hold and their cone-shaped tip supports more tilt angles for better control.
The Galaxy Tab S11 and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra are thinner and lighter compared to their predecessors. The Tab S11 is 5.5mm thin and weighs 469g (471g for the 5G version), while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is 5.1mm thin and weighs 690g (695g for the 5G version).
Both devices are powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ chip, which is the world's most powerful mobile chip for gaming. The TSMC-made 3nm chip was announced in April and has one Cortex-X925 CPU core clocked at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 CPU cores running at 3.3GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.4GHz. Its Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU has nearly 5 TFLOPs of graphics performance.
The Galaxy Tab S11 has 12GB RAM and comes in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage variants. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has 12GB RAM in 256GB and 512GB variants and 16GB RAM in the 1TB variant. They both run Android 16 with One UI 8.0 on top, and Samsung is promising to offer them seven generations of Android OS updates.
Samsung has made improvements to Samsung Notes and other drawing and writing features. The Quick Tools feature gives faster access to adjust things on the fly, while Samsung Notes gets the new Sticky Notes feature for faster referencing and thoughts.
The new version of Samsung DeX, built on top of Google's Desktop Mode, offers four separate workspaces for even more desktop-like productivity experience. Its new Extended Mode lets DeX work across the tablet's screen and an external monitor/screen. When combined with the Book Cover Keyboard Slim accessory, the Galaxy Tab S11 series can turn into a full-fledged tablet.
You can access producitivity apps like ArcSite, Clip Studio Paint, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, NoteShelt, and Notion.
Both tablets have a 12MP front-facing camera and a 13MP front-facing camera. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has an additional 8MP ultrawide camera on the rear. The Galaxy Tab S11 is powered by an 8,400mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is supported by an 11,600mAh battery. Both support up to 45W fast wired charging.
Connectivity features of the Galaxy Tab S11 and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra include GPS, 5G and dual-SIM (in cellular versions), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port with 5Gbps data transfer speed.
Samsung's new high-end tablets come in two colours—grey and silver—and will be available for pre-order starting September 4 in select markets.
