Galaxy S8, Galaxy A80, and Galaxy A5 (2017) get September security update

Samsung has released the latest Android security patch for the Galaxy S8/S8+, Galaxy A80, and Galaxy A5 (2017). An update is rolling out for these devices in various markets, with software version G95*FXXS5DSI1, A805FXXS2ASI2, and A520FXXUBCSI1 for the S8/S8+, A80, and A5 (2017) respectively.

The Galaxy S8 update has been released in a handful of European countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Bolivia (the update for Bolivia has a slightly different software version — G95*FXXS5DSI4 — than the rest). The Galaxy A80 is being updated in Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Paraguay, Panama, and India, while the A5 (2017) is getting the update in Russia, Croatia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. None of the devices are getting anything other than the September security patch with these updates.

If you own a Galaxy A80, Galaxy S8/S8+ or Galaxy A5 (2017) in one of the markets listed above, you can download the update over the air by going into the Software update menu of the device’s Settings app. You can also upgrade by flashing the latest firmware for your phone – you can download them from our firmware database.

… do you have any information regarding the SM-G950FD model?

I’m using the ZTO branch, (Brazil) and I’ve got an update 3 days ago (G950FXXU5DSHC) but it’s still carrying the August Security Patch.

I’ve noticed that there’s a a lot of releases for other branches after ZTO but they were all built on the same date (Aug, 23rd) and, hence, also carry the August SP.

The biggest comedy is that Samsung will only release the update to a maximum of three countries and the other at the moon wait: D ETL up to a month Super: X

Something is not right… Samsung has sold S10 as their (until Note 10 was released) flagship. Now, one of their flagships is the latest in order to receive security updates? Seriously, Samsung?!

Yeah, what did you expect, my friend? : D I just laugh at their politics: D

the S10 is delayed as its paving road for the beta testing of Android 10 – so next update will be to android 10 (for beta users)

If what you are saying is the real deal, this is completly unacceptable. Imagine if Microsoft is delaying security update for Windows users just because they are beta testing new Windows 10 release? Totally unacceptable and without excuses.

OC, it is not a real deal.

kind of similar for A series devices…..A6 (2018) should have updated before J and M series devices ….now look what happened is j6 and other cheaper M devices are on September security updates and a6 2018 is on april update…..that time when a6 was almost double costly than J and M budget devices.
despite all this device are launched in almost same phase as in a6 or some are after 3-4 months later after a6. also A6 2018 was oreo out of the box
and samsungs so called “Quarterly update promise” makes no sense
