Galaxy S25 Ultra can record 8K videos from three cameras

Samsung has improved the quality of 8K video recording on its flagship phones over the past few years. The Galaxy S25 Ultra offers more flexibility on that front by letting you record 8K 30fps videos using its primary (200MP), ultrawide (50MP), and telephoto (50MP) cameras.

To record 8K videos, a camera sensor needs to have at least 33MP resolution. Since the ultrawide camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra has been upgraded to a 50MP sensor, it can now record 8K videos. However, you still can't switch between the ultrawide, primary, and telephoto cameras while recording 8K videos.

It was rumored that Samsung would also use a 50MP sensor for its 3x zoom camera, but that information turned out to be false. The company may upgrade the 3x zoom camera from a 10MP sensor to a 50MP sensor with the Galaxy S26 Ultra next year.

If that happens, all the rear cameras on the phone could record 8K videos, and we hope that Samsung can offer live camera switching while recording 8K videos. Hopefully, the ISP improvements in next year's chip will be good enough for that.
