The One UI 7.0 update that Samsung released for the Galaxy S21 series last month came with the April 2025 security patch, even though there was a more recent security maintenance release available for the series.
Samsung has since released the May 2025 security patch for the Galaxy S21 FE in the United States. The company is now rolling out the latest patch for the other models in the Galaxy S21 series.
The May 2025 security patch is currently being rolled out for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra on Verizon in the United States. It goes without saying that the update would soon be out for users on other carriers as well as on unlocked variants.
The build versions ending in HYE2 easily identify the latest update for this lineup which primarily brings the May 2025 security patch. Not much in the way of new features can be expected from these monthly software updates.
The security patch brings fixes for dozens of vulnerabilities identified in both Android OS and Samsung's own software. While Samsung has already detailed the June 2025 security patch, these devices won't be getting another update for some time now.
That's because the three Galaxy S21 models are on Samsung's quarterly schedule for security updates, meaning they receive an update once every three months.
