With every new generation of Galaxy Buds, Samsung improves at least one important aspect of audio quality. The Galaxy Buds 4 series continues that approach to bring refinements that deliver better overall audio performance.
In addition to a newer version of Bluetooth, the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro have an updated design to enhance the overall audio quality.
Samsung has updated the dual-driver system compared to the Galaxy Buds 3 series. The 11mm woofer + 5.4mm tweeter setup in the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro is now wider, offering 20% more surface area. This change helps improve clarity and depth across different frequencies compared to the Galaxy Buds 3 series and to take sound quality to the next level. Even though the Galaxy Buds 4 lacks the dual-driver setup, its audio has been improved through its new 11mm single driver.
This adjustment is intended to provide a more balanced listening experience for music, podcasts, videos, and games. The earbuds continue to support Samsung Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality (SSC UHQ), which was introduced with the Galaxy Buds 3 series. The codec supports 24-bit/96kHz audio playback when paired with compatible Galaxy devices.
Because the Galaxy Buds 4 series uses Bluetooth 6.1, connection stability should be better, especially in crowded areas like airports, cafes, offices, and train stations. The newer Bluetooth standard includes latency improvements, which should help reduce lip-sync issues while watching videos and minimize delays between on-screen action and corresponding in-game sounds like enemy footsteps.
Samsung has also updated active noise cancellation (ANC) on the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. The Adaptive ANC and Adaptive Equalizer can now adapt to a user’s ear shape. This adjustment improves noise reduction performance, particularly for consistent background sounds such as airplane cabin noise or train movement.
Call quality has also been enhanced with Super Clear Call. It separates a person's voice from other sounds, making conversations clearer in noisy environments. Samsung also says voice reproduction during calls sounds more natural on the Galaxy Buds 4 and the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro.
