The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are the company's first truly wireless earphones that support Samsung Seamless Codec HiFi. This new wireless audio codec from Samsung supports the transmission of 24-bit audio, but it works only with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Don't get disappointed, though. The South Korean firm has announced that the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will get Bluetooth LE Audio codec support later this year via a software update.
Bluetooth LE Audio, unlike other wireless audio codecs (like SSC, AAC, aptX, and LDAC), is developed by the Bluetooth SIG, which means a wide range of products can support it in the future. It features better audio stability and quality compared to SBC, the default audio codec supported by all Bluetooth audio products.
Google added support for Bluetooth LE Audio with Android 13. It means that the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro can transmit high-quality audio through all smartphones and tablets running Android 13 (and newer).
