Samsung started using Qualcomm chips in its laptops last year, and it looks like the company will continue using Snapdragon chips in its laptops. Recently, it launched the Galaxy Book 5 Edge with the Snapdragon X processor. Now, it appears that such laptops will get better gaming performance.

Galaxy Books with Qualcomm chips will get Snapdragon Control Panel for better gaming

Qualcomm has released the Snapdragon Control Panel for laptops with Snapdragon X Elite series chips. You can download the app from this link. It automatically recognizes the games that you've installed on your laptop and optimizes them automatically by adjusting things like anti-aliasing, capping the frame rate, texture filtering, and more. It is similar to game optimization apps from AMD and Nvidia.

The app also lets you install the latest Adreno GPU drivers on your Snapdragon-equipped laptop. Newer drivers usually bring improved performance through better optimisation for newer games. Qualcomm says it has optimised the performance of Snapdragon X series laptops for over 100 games over the past year.

Microsoft and Qualcomm have together made improvements that will improve the gaming experience on laptops with Snapdragon chips. Microsoft’s Prism emulator, which is used to emulate x86 games, now also supports Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), which are needed by many games and creative apps. The Snapdragon X2 Elite chip supports AVX2 emulation, and laptops with older Snapdragon X series chips will get the update in the coming weeks.

The Xbox app for Windows devices has been updated to add the ability to download ARM64-compatible games. When it was launched last year for ARM laptops, it was just a client to stream Xbox games from the cloud. Now, you can download and install games using the Xbox app on laptops with Snapdragon chips.

Qualcomm is also working with Epic Games to allow Fortnite to work on laptops with Snapdragon chips. The companies have been working to improve Fortnite through full kernel-level support and anti-cheat support. The chipmaker claims that it has been working with other anti-cheating software developers, including Tencent (Anti-Cheat Expert), Roblox (Hyperion), Denuvo, InProtect GameGuard, Uncheater, and BattleEye.

All these changes and improvements will make the gaming experience on laptops using Qualcomm's Snapdragon X series chips.
