Customers have come to expect substantial software upgrade support from Samsung, not just for its premium devices but also for the mid-range phones.

It's great to see that this trend continues with the Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A37 that have just been unveiled by the company. They stick with the upgrade policy that was announced with their predecessors.

Expect a similar support cycle for security updates

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 will receive up to six major Android OS upgrades. Since both devices are being released with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 pre-installed, this promise covers them until Android 22.

The company also mentions “long-term” security updates for the devices, so we'll likely see them supported for patches at least up to the six year mark. Anything beyond that would be a plus.

There's no difference in the software support promised for this year's models over their predecessors. Samsung had also confirmed six years of Android OS upgrades for the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 released last year.

The jump to six years of support for mid-range models was only made last year so it's great to see that Samsung is sticking with it. This will give peace of mind to customers who intend to hold on to their phones for longer.
