Samsung says that the Galaxy A35+ has a screen made of Gorilla Glass Victus+ but doesn't specify what's used on the back. For the A55, the company says that it “is made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+,” suggesting that the stronger glass is present on both sides of the device. Even if both phones only have Victus+ on the front, it's a substantial and welcome upgrade.
While each new version of Gorilla Glass usually focuses on either improving scratch resistance or protection from drops, Victus/Victus+ was designed to enhance both aspects. Compared to Gorilla Glass 5, which Samsung used on the Galaxy A54 and A34, Victus+ offers at least twice the scratch resistance.
First seen on Samsung phones with the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra, Victus+ also provides nearly twice the protection from drops. While Gorilla Glass 5 can survive drops from a height of 1.2 meters, Victus/Victus+ can survive drops from up to 2 meters.
The Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 are also protected from water and dust, though they carry the same IP67 certification as previous phones in the lineup. Devices with an IP67 rating are completely protected from dust and can be fully submerged in fresh water at a depth of up to 0.5 meters for 30 minutes.
