By now, you’re likely familiar with Samsung’s vision of an AI phone. The company wants AI to streamline how people use their devices, and with each new phone generation, it appears to be getting closer.

So what’s the endgame? Remove friction from user-phone interactions and make Galaxy devices feel intuitive, even predictive.

We’re not fully there yet, but Samsung’s new Galaxy S26 premium phones, unveiled at Unpacked 2026, double down on that philosophy. They introduce several new and upgraded AI features. Here is a summary of the more notable ones.

Galaxy S26: How has the AI experience improved?

  • Now Nudge: As you type on the Samsung Keyboard, this new AI tool suggests relevant actions and items directly in the dynamic Samsung Keyboard toolbar.
  • Improved Now Brief: Samsung says Now Brief is now more proactive and context-aware, surfacing information when you’re more likely to need it.
  • AI ISP: For the first time, Samsung extends its AI ISP to the selfie camera. The result is improved image processing, more natural skin tones, and better results across varied lighting conditions.
  • Photo Assist: Think generative photo editing with fewer limits. Galaxy S26 users get finer control through text prompts and access to editing history for easier refinements.
  • Creative Studio: The renamed Drawing Assist tool now includes presets and expanded creative options.
  • Upgraded Bixby: In One UI 8.5, Samsung’s assistant becomes more conversational and better at understanding natural language. Users can adjust system settings more seamlessly through voice commands.
  • Agentic AI: Galaxy S26 users can now choose between multiple AI agents. At launch, this includes Gemini and Perplexity.
  • Call Screening: Added to Call Assist, this AI feature answers and screens calls from unknown numbers and attempts to determine the caller’s intent for you.
  • Notification Highlights: A Samsung dream coming to life. AI notifications have been rumored before. Now, they're real. This new Galaxy AI feature summarizes notifications from long text conversations and organizes notifications by priority.
  • Improved Audio Eraser: No longer limited to the Gallery app's video editing suite, Audio Eraser can now remove background noise from any livestream. Galaxy S26 users can activate it via a quick toggle.

All in all, if you’re a fan of Galaxy AI — or AI systems in general — and want more capable tools, the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra running One UI 8.5 should be right up your alley.
