The original idea doesn't seem to have caught on.

As many of you know, Samsung unveiled a new portable projector at CES 2026 called The Freestyle+. It brings several upgrades, including a clever AI system that can project near-perfect images on uneven surfaces. But while we gain some improvements, we lose a few features.

We spoke briefly with Samsung at CES and can confirm the company hasn’t developed any Freestyle+ accessories beyond a carrying/storage pouch.

The Freestyle+ appears superior to previous models in almost every way, except when it comes to accessories. Earlier Freestyles could be attached to a battery pack or a socket adapter for top-down projections from the ceiling.

It’s reasonable to assume Samsung would have created new add-ons if the originals were successful, but perhaps sales didn’t justify it. To be fair, the optional attachments Samsung used to offer for the original Freestyle, although very clever and unique, seemed rather situational.

For example, the battery accessory made sense mainly for outdoor use or camping. And the lightbulb socket adapter wasn't the most convenient to install. Plus, the use cases for projecting top-down images without touch capabilities were rather limited.

Samsung plans to launch The Freestyle+ before the second half of 2026, though exact dates and pricing are still under wraps. We’ll share updates as soon as we know more.
