Galaxy S6, S6 edge launch event and pre-order confirmed by Maxis Malaysia

Malaysia, like the rest of the world, is waiting for the arrival of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. At the same time, however, the launch event and pre-order are as close to the real deal as Malaysia (or any other country, for that matter) can get until the devices hit the market worldwide next month.

Maxis Malaysia has confirmed that Samsung will formally announce the arrival of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in the country on April 2nd, as revealed by a letter sent from Samsung Electronics Malaysia less than a day ago. The letter reads as follows:

Dear X, Samsung Electronics Malaysia brings you the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Join us at the official launch event with details of the event below.

The launch date Samsung Electronics Malaysia provided is “April 2, 2015,” which lends credence to the report. Around the same time as the confirmation (17 hours ago), Maxis also updated its Facebook page, with a poster showing the Galaxy S6 edge and the words above, Encased in metal and glass, the next Galaxy is certainly top of its class. Beneath it, Maxis writes, Great news: the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be available at our Online Store on 3 April! The first 1,000 shoppers will receive a free wireless charger and screen protector worth RM280, plus the opportunity to buy the Emerald Green variant, exclusive to Maxis, while stocks last.

There you have it: Maxis Malaysia will have a formal launch on April 2nd and open up pre-orders on April 3rd. As for the official launch and purchase, Maxis and Malaysia will have to wait until April 10th, just like everyone else.
