Samsung opens up Simband health platform to developers

Back at its digital health event in May, Samsung introduced a new health platform for cloud-sourced health tracking. It showed off Simband, a reference wearable device which manufacturers could use to build their own products on top of without having to start from scratch.

So today at the Samsung Developer Conference the company announced that this health tracking platform is going to be opened up for developers. The Simbad reference wearable, which is packed with sensors that can measure things like oxygen level, heart rate, body temperature and more, will allow the company to find out what kind of apps developers want to build on it. This may even help shape Samsung's future wearable products as it incorporates feedback from Simband users.
