Galaxy S4 mini headed to AT&T on May 23rd with HD Voice support

The Galaxy S4 mini is far from the latest smartphone you would find on the market today (especially since the Galaxy S5 mini could soon be out), but it is still on track to make its debut on US carrier AT&T. The rather late launch should be countered by a feature that wasn't present on the original Galaxy S4 mini – the S4 mini launching on AT&T comes with support for HD Voice and VoLTE, which basically allows it to make phone calls over an LTE network. This means users will be able to make calls and use data over the same network, something only AT&T has offered support for until now.

The Galaxy S4 mini will be offered by AT&T for $49.99 on a two-year contract, and apart from the HD Voice support, include the same hardware as the original. That includes a 4.3-inch qHD (560×940) Super AMOLED display, a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, 8GB of storage expandable via a microSD slot, a 1,900 mAh battery, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, though an update to Android 4.4 KitKat should be available right after launch.
