TL;DR

  • Samsung is already testing One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy A17 5G, even though One UI 9.0 is still rolling out to all eligible devices.
  • The new build was spotted on Samsung's servers, and testing usually starts on high-end phones before reaching cheaper models.
  • One UI 9.5 is based on Android 17 and may add features like App Lock, dark app icons, smoother animations, and app mirroring.

Although it hasn't completed the rollout of the One UI 9.0 update for all eligible devices yet, Samsung has already started testing One UI 9.5 and its features extensively. The upcoming version of One UI is already being tested on affordable phones like the Galaxy A17 5G.

Tipster Fahad Ali Javed discovered that Samsung has started testing One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy A17 5G after a new firmware build (A176BOXM8EZJ1) was spotted on the company's servers. Usually, the company begins testing new versions of One UI on high-end devices before trickling down to mid-range models and eventually to entry-level phones and tablets.

Samsung first started testing One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy S26 series a couple of months ago. Last month, testing expanded to the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Yesterday, One UI 9.5 also appeared on the company's servers for the Galaxy A57.

One UI 9.5 is based on Android 17, just like One UI 9.0, but it could bring a lot more features than its predecessor. Some of the expected additions include App Lock, dark app icons for Dark Mode, smoother animations, a new fingerprint animation, a slightly tweaked camera UI, and app mirroring.
