TL;DR

  • Spotify Running Mode is now available on Android, including Galaxy devices, after previously being limited to iOS.
  • The feature is limited to Premium subscribers in select markets, including the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and Sweden.

The Spotify Running Mode was recently introduced. It transforms your playlists into a highly personalized session that's tailored to your run. This feature was previously limited to the iOS app only.

The company has announced today that Spotify Running Mode for Android is now available. Eligible devices include your Galaxy smartphones as well.

The wait is finally over for Android users

There is just one caveat, though. Spotify Running Mode for Android is currently available for Premium subscribers in select markets only. These include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and Sweden.

Running Mode can be found in the Fitness hub on Spotify. You can choose from one of the 25 presets that cover different types of workouts and genres. There's also a simple Just Run option that provides a 20-minute mix of beats that will pair perfectly with your run.

It even goes further with features like Beat Matching. Enable this feature and select a target beats per minute setting. 160 BPM tends to be the most popular setting, but runners who enjoy a faster cadence can bump it up to 170-180 BPM as well, with the music being aligned with the chosen tempo.

Remember, you do need a Spotify Premium subscription to access the Running Mode feature. Those on the free plan will need to upgrade to the paid tier to get Running Mode on their Galaxy device.
