Samsung Electronics' internal message boards allowed employees to post anonymously for more than a decade. This allowed them to be frank and open, since they could post secretly without revealing their true identities.
Reports suggest that Samsung has removed this feature, and employees must now use their real names for any and all posts.
Reports from South Korea suggest that Samsung has decided to make this change after more than a decade based on concerns about false information, personal attacks, and abusive language.
The company has reportedly informed employees that the internal message board called “NOW Talk” has now switched from an anonymous to a real-name system. The new policy mandates that employees' real name must now be associated with any posts and comments.
Employees don't have to worry about what they have posted previously as the policy doesn't apply to posts made under the previous system.
It's also claimed that some employees took advantage of the anonymous system to not just spread unverified information but also to attack colleagues. The company said in a note to its employees that in addition to preventing abusive language and personal attacks, it has also received guidance from South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor to strengthen workplace harassment prevention.
