Samsung introduced Now Bar on Galaxy phones and tablets with One UI 7.0 and expanded compatibility with supported third-party apps with One UI 8.0. However, the collection of Now Bar-compatible apps remains slim. Fortunately, an impressive third-party travel app is adding Now Bar support.
Aviate, an impressive new flight live-tracking app for Android, will soon feature Now Bar integration on compatible Galaxy devices. The developer announced on X today that the app has been approved for Now Bar and that users should see Aviate in their Now Bar settings by the end of this month.
It remains unclear whether the feature will be exclusive to One UI 8.0 (Android 16) and newer versions or if it will also extend to One UI 7.0, which does not use Android's standardized Live Updates APIs.
While iPhones have had access to multiple well-designed flight tracking and travel apps (like Flighty) for years, Android has had far fewer options. Aviate stands out as one of the few Android apps to use a modern design language (Material You) alongside features like home screen widgets and a companion Wear OS app for Galaxy Watches.

Additionally, the app offers digital boarding passes with Aztec and QR codes, terminal maps, gate predictions, lounge and restaurant guides, and secure storage for travel documents.
You can also manage parking details, create packing checklists, and track personal flight metrics such as total flights, air hours, countries visited, and top airlines. It even generates custom jet lag recovery plans after long flights.

We hope more third-party apps start bringing support for Live Updates, which automatically brings Now Bar compatibility on devices running One UI 8.0 (or newer). Apps related to tracking sports matches scores, cab/flight/train, workout, food/parcel delivery, and timer (or other utilities) would be a great fit for the Now Bar.
