One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy A55 - Source: Abhijeet Mishra / SamMobile
One UI 8.5 is a great update if you have one of Samsung's more recent devices, but it does have a significant problem where not all of the new features trickle down as you go to some of the older models.
Our colleagues over at SamMobile's YouTube channel have put together a detailed video highlighting how some of the features haven't made their way to some popular models like the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The video compares One UI 8.5 running on the Ultra variants of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25, and the Galaxy S26. As you'd expect, the best possible experience is available on the latest Ultra model.
For example, you have a 24-megapixel mode in the camera app on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. In every version of the update for models below this, there's no 24-megapixel option at all.
It doesn't matter which phone you're using, the option doesn't exist so there's no way to enable it either directly or through Camera Assistant. It's a similar story with Horizontal Lock that was introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. One UI 8.5 didn't bring it for any of the older models.
There are quite a few other features missing from areas other than the camera as well. Check out the full video below to learn more. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more informative videos.
