On Samsung smartphones, there is now a new update available for the Google Play System. It is 10MB in size, and after installing it, the Google Play System update field in Software information shows April 1, 2026, as opposed to March 1, 2026, from before.
The update was available on our Galaxy S26+ in India. We assume that it is available for more devices and in other countries as well. To get it, go to Settings > About phone > Software information > Google Play System update > Check for updates.
At the moment, there’s no information about what changes it brings. Usually, an update to Google Play System offers bug fixes, performance improvements, or new features related to Android and Google apps and services. Considering that, it is always a good idea to get it.
You can read the updates Google offered to the Play System in April 2026 here. Note that not all changes may be part of the update that Samsung phones are getting. On a related note, Samsung is rolling out One UI 8.5 and the April 2026 security patch to Galaxy smartphones.
