The Galaxy Z Flip 8 may not bring an upgrade in battery capacity, according to a report from our friends over at GalaxyClub. With the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung upgraded battery capacity two years in a row, which is somewhat rare.
Samsung may have tapped the brakes for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, however, and will reportedly equip the phone with the same 4,300 mAh battery capacity as its predecessor.
Like all foldable phones, the Flip 8 will have two batteries that work as one to keep the lights on. While the overall capacity will remain the same, Samsung appears to have adjusted the capacity of each battery.
The final figure will still amount to a rated capacity of 4,174 mAh, which will be advertised as 4,300 mAh when the phone goes official later this year. However, battery life may still be better than the Galaxy Z Flip 7, at least if Samsung uses the Galaxy S26's Exynos 2600 for the Flip 8.
The Exynos 2600 is considerably more efficient than previous chips, and even compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used in the S26 and S26+ in some markets and the Galaxy S26 Ultra globally.
For now, we expect Samsung to stick to the same launch schedule for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 as it did for the Flip 6 and Flip 7, so the phone should be unveiled sometime in July. Samsung is reportedly planning not to increase prices for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 because of Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone later this year, but that may or may not hold true for the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
