Galaxy A57's Exynos 1680 may offer newer connectivity options

Samsung’s next chipset for the brand’s upcoming mid-range smartphones is expected to be the Exynos 1680. The Galaxy A57 could be one of the first devices to feature it. In the past, we have seen the SoC on a benchmarking platform, which revealed that it will bring a significant improvement over its predecessor, the Exynos 1580, in terms of graphics performance. Well, today we are learning that it will also bring newer connectivity options.

Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 1680 has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG platform (via Mohammed Khatri). It reveals that the chipset features Bluetooth 6.1, which is the newest version of Bluetooth at the moment. It offers improved privacy and battery life over Bluetooth 6.0. The Exynos 1580, on the other hand, features Bluetooth 5.3. It means that Exynos 1680 may offer significantly better Bluetooth performance over Exynos 1580.

As Samsung has started getting the Exynos 1680 certified from various authorities, it looks like the brand is preparing to launch the chipset. Samsung had launched the Exynos 1580 in October 2024. Considering that the brand follows a one-year refresh cycle for most of its products, the Exnos 1680 was supposed to arrive last month, but that didn’t happen. 

According to the listing of the chipset on Geekbench, it has an 8-core CPU configuration with one prime core running at 2GHz, four high-performance cores running at 1.95GHz, and three power-efficiency cores running at 1.70GHz. For graphics, it features the XClipse 550 GPU with two compute units running at 1,306MHz. It uses AMD’s RDNA 3.5 microarchitecture.
