The past couple of years haven't been as profitable for Samsung, given the company was facing serious headwinds in some of its most lucrative businesses.
Things have started improving this year and the various factors that have contributed to the wind in its sails may now enable the company to post its highest Q3 operating profit since 2022.
A survey of 31 analysts has projected 10.1 trillion won or $7.11 billion in operating profit for Samsung Electronics in Q3 2025. This would be the company's highest third-quarter profit since 2022 and also represent a 10% improvement compared to the same period last year.
There are a few factors that have helped Samsung bring in more money. Pricing for conventional memory products has been on the rise which helped offset the weakness in sales volume for high-bandwidth memory chips.
The prices of some DRAM chips which are mainly used in PCs, smartphones, and servers, have increased by over 170% in Q3 2025 compared to last year.
As Samsung remains a major player in this industry, the price hikes directly benefit the company's bottom line. Samsung's mobile and consumer electronics business continues to perform well, supporting the company's profitability.
The outlook remains favorable for Samsung over the coming quarters as the legacy memory product prices are expected to be on the higher side. The company has reportedly also received approval from NVIDIA for its high-bandwidth memory products which will further support the bottom line.
Samsung will officially announce its earnings estimates for both revenues and profit tomorrow. The full Q3 2025 earnings result will be released in the coming weeks.
