Samsung has released this month's security update for the Galaxy S23 series, its flagship phone lineup launched over two years ago, in Europe.
Since the company was busy in rolling out the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S23 late last month, this month's security update didn't arrive in the first half of the month for the phones. It is here now, though.
A new software update with firmware version S91xBXXS8DYDB is rolling out for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra in European countries. It brings the May 2025 security patch for the phones to improve their security by fixing dozens of vulnerabilitoes and loopholes found in the previous software version. It doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements.
If you have a Galaxy S23 series device and live in Europe, you can install the new update by heading over to Settings » Software update » Download and install. Once the update is downloaded, hit the Install Now button so that the update can be installed. The phone will restart after a few minutes.
Samsung hasn't released the new update in Africa, some Asian markets, and Latin America yet. The update could arrive in those regions as soon as this week. It was released in South Korea and the USA last week.
The next big software update for the Galaxy S23 series will arrive with Android 16-based One UI 8.0. It could be released sometime by the end of the third quarter of this year. Samsung delayed the One UI 7 update, and it is trying to make amends by releasing One UI 8 earlier than its usual timeline.
