Good Lock global launch has something in common with One UI 7, and it's not good

As promised, Samsung has finally made the Good Lock customization platform available to Galaxy device users worldwide. Good Lock is no longer region-locked, which should be a reason to celebrate. And it is, except that the Good Lock global launch isn't as smooth as we hoped.

You could say that the manner in which Samsung brought Good Lock to the world reflects the botched release of the stable One UI 7 update. Don't worry. Samsung hasn't pulled Good Lock from the Galaxy Store. However, the app displays an error and prevents users from downloading all the Good Lock modules. Moreover, some modules aren't listed at all.

If you're unfamiliar with Good Lock, here's how it works. On its own, the Good Lock app doesn't do much. Instead, Good Lock acts as a launchpad for other Good Lock modules. Some of these modules depend entirely on and are available exclusively through Good Lock, while others are available as standalone apps in the Galaxy Store.

A number of the modules that Samsung lists in Good Lock don't seem to be obtainable in regions where the app has expanded its reach. In our testing, we were unable to obtain the following Good Lock modules:

When attempting to acquire these modules, the Good Lock app displays the error message, “Something went wrong. Try again later.” And when attempting to look up these modules on a desktop web browser, the Galaxy Store message states that the application is not supported.

The other unusual aspect regarding this global Good Lock release is that some modules aren't listed at all. Thankfully, they are obtainable via the Galaxy Store. A couple of examples:

Once you download these modules from the Galaxy Store, they will also show up in the Good Lock app (once you restart it), and they become usable.

Needless to say, something isn't right with this global Good Lock launch. Samsung still has some kinks to iron out, and perhaps things will improve for global Good Lock users after the company relaunches the stable One UI 7 update.
