A few days ago, Samsung released the One UI 7.0 beta update for the Galaxy A55 in South Korea. The enrolment terms and conditions for the update revealed that you have to download the new software using a Wi-Fi network. And we thought it could become a requirement for future updates on other phones. However, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Yesterday, Samsung opened the One UI 7.0 Beta Program for the Galaxy A55 in India. Its enrolment terms and conditions did not mention the Wi-Fi connection requirement to download the update. So, it is a relief to see that Samsung isn't bringing the weird restriction to the One UI Beta Program in other countries.
Some claimed that Samsung might be forcing people to use a Wi-Fi connection to download the One UI 7.0 beta update on the Galaxy A55 because it features seamless updates. However, that doesn't appear to be the correct logic behind the restrictive rule as the Galaxy A55 One UI 7.0 beta update didn't have the same restriction in India.
Restricing the update's download process to Wi-Fi networks limits the choice for users, and during times when cellular networks are fast enough to compete with broadband connections in most uses cases, it doesn't make sense to limit users on how they can download and update.
