Motorola to finally catch up to Galaxy Z Flip 6’s durability

Samsung’s latest clamshell foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, is the first and only smartphone in the segment to offer an IP48 rating. More specifically, it is the only clamshell foldable phone to offer protection against small particles. Unfortunately for the South Korean tech giant, soon, it won’t be the only brand offering it.

According to a new leak, Motorola’s upcoming clamshell foldable phone, the Moto Razr 60, will offer an IP48 rating. That’s a significant jump up from the Razr 50's IPX8 rating (IPX8 is resistant against water but not particles). With that, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will lose its edge over rivals. Sadly, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 won’t offer anything better.

That’s not the only place where the Motorola Razr 50 will give a tough fight to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Reportedly, it will offer a 4,500mAh battery instead of the 4,200mAh unit that is in its predecessor. Samsung’s current model, on the other hand, offers a 4,000mAh battery. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will offer a larger battery (4,300 mAh), but it won’t be as large as that of the Razr 60.

This is the base model we are talking about. There will also be the Razr 60 Ultra, which will offer even better hardware. That phone may totally overshadow the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and, in some aspects, even the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7. That may significantly impact the sales of Samsung’s clamshell foldable devices. That being said, most people may still choose Samsung for its software, reliability, and after-sales services.
