Samsung has announced that six TV models from the company’s 2024 Neo QLED 8K and 4K and one TV model from the 2024 QLED 4K series have received HDR Brightness Accuracy and True Cinema Black certifications from Germany’s Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE). These Samsung TVs are also the first devices to get the two certifications.
According to Samsung, VDE’s HDR Brightness Accuracy certification assures that “these models accurately reproduce the brightness levels of HDR content, staying true to HDR standards and delivering picture quality that closely matches what the human eye perceives.”
On the other hand, the True Cinema Black certification ensures that the screen’s letterbox area (the black bars at the top and the bottom of the display) remains deep black and does not suffer from blooming when watching content in the 4:3 format. It shows that Samsung TVs have exceptional local dimming performance.

We checked VDE’s website and found HDR Brightness Accuracy and True Cinema Black certifications for the QN9xxD, QN8xxD, and QN99xC series TVs. You can check out the certifications below.
Samsung's Executive Vice President and Deputy Head of the R&D Team, Visual Display Business, Yongjae Kim, said “Technology continues to advance, enabling us to deliver an unmatched cinematic experience right in our customers’ homes. We are committed to setting the highest standards for picture quality in both high-resolution and big-screen TVs, and we are proud that our Neo QLED TVs have earned these industry-first certifications from VDE.”
