Possible Samsung Exynos 2300 chip in the works, likely for the Galaxy S23

Samsung's working on two new Exynos chips, one for flagship devices and one for mid-range ones, according to our friends over at GalaxyClub. The new info contradicts a recent rumor that Samsung might not release an Exynos variant of the Galaxy S23 next year, as the flagship chip that the company is developing has a codename that follows that of the Galaxy S22's Exynos 2200.

To be more specific, the new high-end chip has the codename S5E9935 while the Exynos 2200 is S5E9925, so it certainly seems like there will be an Exynos 2300 next year, and the Galaxy S23 is a likely candidate for it. Unfortunately, no other info is available, so it's unclear what changes or improvements this new chip will bring, and whether it will have a newer and improved version of AMD's Xclipse GPU.

The dream of a Snapdragon-only Galaxy S23 may not turn into reality

The other chip that Samsung is developing has the model number S5E8535. It's harder to speculate what this chip could be. The Exynos 1280 that powers devices like the Galaxy A33 and Galaxy A53 features model number S5E8825, so the S5E8535 could be a lower-end chip meant for Samsung's budget smartphones.

However, since only the codenames are known at this time, nothing can be said for certain. But we can certainly hope Samsung will optimize these chips properly and not botch things up like it did this year with the Exynos 2200 or the Exynos 1280. Oh, and maybe just keep that Exynos 2300 and future flagship Exynos chips limited to a few markets like the Exynos 2200, which will be enough to tide us over until those rumored Galaxy-only Exynos processors make their debut.
