Samsung Bot Fit mass production complete for Q3 2024 launch

In 2019, Samsung showcased the GEMS Hip, an exoskeleton-type robot meant for wearing from hips to knees to assist people with walking, exercising, and improving their walking pattern.

Samsung was supposed to release the GEMS Hip in limited numbers in December 2022 and start the product's mass production in the second half of 2022. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. In November 2023, Samsung renamed it Bot Fit. Later, we learned that the company is planning to start the mass production of the wearable assistive robot in mid-2024. Well, today we have some exciting news on the matter.

According to The Chosun Daily, Samsung has completed the development as well as the mass production of the Bot Fit, and the company is planning to launch the wearable assistive robot in the third quarter of this year. It means that you can expect the tech giant to bring the Bot Fit to the market between August 2024 to September 2024.

Previous reports claimed that Samsung was planning to manufacture 100,000 units of the Bot Fit in the first batch. So, expect the wearable assistive robot to be available in limited quantity. While there’s no information on how much it costs, expect it to be on the expensive side as it is an advanced piece of tech and also a rare type of product.

What is Samsung Bot Fit?

The main function of the Bot Fit is to help people with motor function issues, who need assistance with walking. However, the wearable assistive robot offers various benefits to normal people as well, such as reducing the metabolic cost of walking by 24%, accelerating the speed of walking by 14%, tracking the walking pattern and offering suggestions to improve it, and assisting with workouts.
