Last week, we shared our top five reasons why you may want to pick the Galaxy S24+ if you want to buy a new flagship. Now, it's time to take a look at the pricier variant – the only one with ‘Ultra' in its name – and why you might want to buy it instead of any other phone.

There are many reasons to gravitate toward the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and some of those reasons are not exclusive to the Ultra variant but shared across all three S24 models. For example, the entire series offers fantastic firmware support with up to seven major OS upgrades, 2600 nits of screen brightness, great build quality, Galaxy AI, and incredible battery life.

However, today, we'll be focusing on five reasons why you may want to pick the Galaxy S24 Ultra, in particular, if you're looking to buy a phone. And because these reasons are Ultra-specific, they should also highlight what you're missing out on if you buy another S24 variants or phone from Samsung or a different brands. Let's begin.

Gorilla Armor screen protection is a game-changer

Samsung's new Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only phone on the market that boasts Corning's new Gorilla Armor screen protection. This new material has a higher scratch-resistance than any other Glass solution from Corning. If you're familiar with the Mohs' Hardness Test, Gorilla Armor doesn't scratch at a level 6, but 7-8.

Even if durability is no concern, Gorilla Armor also has another ace up its sleeve: anti-reflective qualities. This new screen protector has incredible anti-glare capabilities, which makes the Galaxy S24 Ultra's display easier to read in direct sunlight or very bright environments.

    Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 everywhere

Another characteristic unique to the Galaxy S24 Ultra is that it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip worldwide.

Indeed, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ variants can also be powered by this chip, but only in select markets, including the USA and Canada. Elsewhere, these two flagships use the in-house Exynos 2400 solution.

Not so with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in every market exclusively. There are no S24 Ultra models powered by Exynos, so if you are a fan of Qualcomm chips, this is the phone to buy.

The only smartphone with a stylus that's worth buying

If you like using styluses, there's simply no better option than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, no matter where you look. The S Pen is the definitive stylus for mobile phones, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra has one that pops out of its titanium frame.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the best S Pen phone you can buy, and Samsung is paying just as much attention to S Pen apps as it did when the Galaxy Note series was still around. The S24 Ultra's S Pen has a low latency of only 2.8ms and 4096 pressure levels to deliver a natural writing feel.

A bonkers camera with fantastic zoom

Another element that helps the Galaxy S24 Ultra stand out from other phones, including the base S24 and S24+, is its camera system.

The Ultra phone has a bonkers 200MP 24mm wide-angle camera with OIS, laser autofocus, and multi-directional PDAF.

The phone is also equipped with two zoom cameras, including a 10MP 67mm telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP 111mm periscope telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom. Furthermore, it features a 12MP ultra-wide shooter.

All in all, you can get hybrid zoom levels of up to 100x with fantastic quality, and you can record 8K videos at up to 30 frames per second, 4K videos at up to 120fps, and 1080p @240fps, with Super HDR and fantastic image stabilization.

A premium phone that looks the part

The fifth reason why you may want to pick the Galaxy S24 Ultra is that it looks the part. Most slab-type Samsung phones today look very similar across a very wide price range. The Galaxy A35 looks similar to the A55, which looks comparable to the S23 FE, which can be easily mistaken for a Galaxy S24+.

There is no mistaking the Galaxy S24 Ultra for another model. It stands out with its exclusive boxy design and five rear-facing circular camera cutouts (sans the LED flash). And even the new titanium frame has a bit of a cool factor and a different finish. Unless you want to buy a foldable phone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only Samsung phone that cannot be mistaken for a cheaper device.

If you're looking to get your hands on a new Galaxy S24 Ultra, you can often save through Samsung's enhanced trade-in discounts (in select markets) and other exclusive offers. You can hit the buy button below for more details.
