Your Galaxy S23 FE is a better phone than the Galaxy A55. There's no doubt about it, even if the Galaxy S23 FE is six months older. Nevertheless, it's interesting how Samsung's new A55 bests the Fan Edition phone in a few areas and isn't instantly crushed by the S23 FE across the board.

These few superior features might not be enough to make you want to replace your Galaxy S23 FE with the cheaper A-series phone, but they are worth knowing about. So, without further ado, here are the surprising ways in which the Galaxy A55 beats your S23 FE.

    (Almost) Superior build

Both the Galaxy S23 FE and A55 have aluminum frames and a glass sandwich design. Now, the Galaxy S23 FE is a better built-phone than the A55 for the simple fact that it has an improved IP68 rating compared to the A55's IP67.

However, while the Galaxy S23 FE uses the older Gorilla Glass 5 solution, the Galaxy A55 employs Gorilla Glass Victus+, which technically is a superior material. Glass 5  debuted in 2016 and is almost 10 years old and Victus+ was introduced a couple of years ago. Victus+ was first used by the Galaxy S22.

    Expandable storage and more RAM

If you care about expandable storage, even if its uses are limited today, the Galaxy A55 has it. While the Fan Edition phone lacks a microSD card slot, the A-series phone retains this feature, albeit it uses a shared SIM slot.

More importantly, both the Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy A55 offer 128GB or 256GB of built-in storage and 8GB of RAM, but the Galaxy A55 surprisingly boasts a 12GB of RAM option. This could help it keep recent apps running in the background better than the S23 FE.

The Galaxy A55 has a bigger battery

Lastly, not really a surprise, but while your Galaxy S23 FE sports a 4,500mAh battery, the Galaxy A55 is powered by a bigger 5,000mAh unit. It might not necessarily offer better battery life, as many other factors affect autonomy, and we'll know more once we spend more time with the Galaxy A55 for our upcoming review.

The Galaxy A55's beefier battery lacks wireless charging capabilities but it can recharge via USB-C at the same 25W rate as the Galaxy S23 FE.
