The new software update for the Galaxy S20 series comes with firmware version G98xBXXSIHWJD, and it is available in Switzerland. We expect the new update to expand to other European countries within the next few days. Other markets, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Latin America, and North America, could get the update before the end of this month. It is a minor update, so you can download the update even with your cellular connection, depending on your available bandwidth and limits.
The November 2023 security patch that is included in the new software fixes over 65 security vulnerabilities found in the previous software version. The update doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements. The Galaxy S20 series is not eligible to get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update that has already been released for the Galaxy S23 series.
To download the new update on your Galaxy S20 series device, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also try the manual firmware flashing process to install the new update. However, to do that, you need to download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it using Windows PC and the popular Odin tool.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The phones in the lineup received the Android 11 update in late 2020, the Android 12 update in late 2021, and the Android 13 update late last year.
If you want to experience Android 14-based One UI 6.0, you can think of upgrading to the Galaxy S23, and you can watch its review in our video below.
