One of the world's most popular and used messaging apps, WhatsApp, is all set to get a new security feature in the form of email verification. Notably, the feature isn't available to the general public, but according to a new report, it is now enabled for some WhatsApp beta users. The WhatsApp email verification feature has been under testing since August this year. Now, it is arriving for more beta users across the globe.

According to WABetaInfo, the email verification functionality is now accessible for many beta users with the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android. This indicates that the feature is all set to launch very soon. The report suggests that the new email verification feature can be found inside WhatsApp by heading to Settings > Account.

The WhatsApp email verification feature is available only to a select set of beta users

Interested beta users can check if the feature is enabled in the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.23.24.10. Do note that it is currently available to select a set of beta users. The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows a straightforward process for setting up email verification. The setup page also states that email addresses cannot be read by others and that this verification system will help users access their accounts.

Users need to verify their email address to set up their accounts. Failing to verify their account will show them a warning prompt to get the process started. You also get a Verify email button that will seemingly resent the verification email to the added account. Apparently, email verification is an additional way of verifying your account and not a primary option.
