A few weeks ago, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that WhatsApp would soon offer the ability to share high-resolution images and videos. A few days later, WhatsApp received an update that allowed users to share high-resolution photos. Now, the updated version of the app is being rolled out to more users globally.

Meta has confirmed to The Verge that HD Photo and HD Video options are now rolling out to WhatsApp users globally on Android and iOS. WhatsApp also shared the feature's demonstration on Threads, encouraging people to share their memories in high definition. The HD video option takes up the resolution to 1,280 x 720 pixels, while the HD Photo option allows users to send images with up to 12MP resolution (4,000 x 3,000 pixels). Earlier, the feature was limited to users who registered to beta-test new versions of WhatsApp on their phones.

After updating WhatsApp on your phone to its latest version from the Play Store, you can find the HD option while sending images and videos on the top of the screen. After tapping the HD icon on the top, you can choose between Standard Quality and HD Quality options in the pop-up menu.

Earlier, many people complained about WhatsApp ruining the image and video quality of their memories as the app heavily compressed media files. Now, though, they can send high-quality pictures and videos, but it also takes up more space on the phone. Besides this feature, WhatsApp recently added the option to share the screen with others on a video call, allowing people to plan things together or take someone's help to get things done.
