Samsung is starting to get some competition from other Android brands in the foldable smartphone segment. Huawei, OPPO, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi have already launched their foldable smartphones, undercutting Samsung's Galaxy Z lineup. One more Chinese Android smartphone brand—OnePlus—is preparing to bring a rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus plans to launch a high-end foldable smartphone in the global market in the second half of this year. Apparently, the device has a large screen, a thin design, and a periscope camera. The report also claims that it is actually a rebranded OPPO device with model number OPPO PHN110. It could be launched as the OnePlus V Fold globally.

The smartphone reportedly features a 120Hz LTPO OLED foldable screen. It could have a hinge similar to the OPPO Find N2, which means the crease would be noticeably less visible, and the phone would fold completely flat. Moreover, the phone is reportedly super-thin, similar to the Huawei Mate X3 and the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. It is also said to feature OnePlus' signature Alert Slider switch. It will likely be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

On the back, the phone is rumored to feature a triple-camera setup, featuring a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX890), an ultrawide camera, and a telephoto camera with a periscope lens. Two selfie cameras are said to feature 32MP and 20MP resolution, respectively. It is expected to be powered by a 4,800mAh battery with OnePlus' fast charging (65W+) technology. It likely won't feature an IPX8 water resistance rating.

By the time OnePlus launches its first foldable phone, Samsung would introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It is expected to feature the same-sized displays as its predecessor, but they could be brighter. Moreover, due to the new water droplet-shaped hinge, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to have a less visible crease. The phone is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, IPX8 rating, and the same cameras as the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
