Galaxy S23 rumor alleges price hike compared to 2022 models

Samsung may announce the Galaxy S23 series in the first week of February. The lineup should consist of a base, a Plus, and an Ultra model, and alleged prices for the Galaxy S23 lineup in South Korea have now surfaced, suggesting that the trio of flagship phones will be more expensive than the Galaxy S22 was at launch.

This new rumor, which claims to reveal South Korean prices for the Galaxy S23 series at SK Telecom, says that the base model will cost 1,199,000 won ($935). Furthermore, the Galaxy S23 Plus will allegedly cost 1,397,000 won ($1,098), whereas the Galaxy S23 Ultra will carry a 1,599,400 won ($1,257) price tag.

Last year, the Galaxy S22, S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra went live in South Korea for 999,900, 1,199,000 and 1, 452,000 won, respectively. And if the latest rumor is to be believed, the upcoming Galaxy 23 series will get a price hike at launch compared to the 2022 flagship models. At least in Korea. But how true is this?

Samsung has yet to reveal these details officially, and this new alleged information may be correct, but we're not keen to take this rumor at face value.Unfortunately, the source of this rumor (@OreXda) doesn't seem to be reliable always. A few months ago, the same Twitter source claimed to have obtained pre-order details for the Galaxy S23 series at SK Telecom. And needless to say, the late-December pre-registration period and January 5 pre-order turned out to be false.

This time, a price hike for the Galaxy S23 series doesn't sound implausible, and Samsung may very well increase launch prices for South Korea. But even if Samsung prices the series higher than last year, these alleged price tags may be incorrect, and so on. We advise you to take this information with a proverbial pinch of salt.

According to previous reports, Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S23 lineup on February 1, and the pre-order window could last about two weeks in most markets.
