Samsung smart TV owners have several ways to stream content out of the box, including the built-in Samsung TV Plus service. Now, a major new app has arrived on the company's televisions in India, adding access to more than 500 live TV channels.

Tata Play, India's leading pay-TV provider, has officially rolled out its app for Samsung's Tizen OS. Users can download it directly from the app store on supported Samsung TVs to stream live channels over broadband. Because programming is delivered over the internet, there is no need for a satellite dish or an external set-top box.

The app replicates a traditional broadcast TV experience with dedicated channel numbers, an electronic program guide (EPG), and remote-friendly navigation. It also includes catch-up support for select channels, letting viewers watch shows they might have missed. This makes it an appealing setup for households that already have reliable home internet and want to ditch satellite hardware without losing live television.

Subscription plans start at INR 199 (~$2) per month, and the service does not require an existing Tata Play satellite subscription. Alongside Tizen OS, the app is available on Android TV, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and VIDAA platforms across competing smart TVs.
