According to multiple reports about Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset for mobile devices, it has the model number SM8850 and the brand may launch it as the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. Well, a new leak about it reveals that the company may call it with a different name.
On Weibo, a popular tipster, Digital Chat Station, claims that Qualcomm will launch the SM8850 as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. In other words, the tech giant’s next flagship chipset for mobile devices will be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and not Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.
Samsung is expected equip its next non-foldable flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, which, according to the latest report, will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. However, that will be the case in some regions.
In others, the tech giant may offer the phone with the Exynos 2600 SoC. Speaking of which, yesterday, its CPU benchmark leaked, and it seems to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It will be interesting to see how it competes with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
According to multiple reports, Qualcomm is developing another high-end, flagship-grade chipset, carrying model number SM8845. The brand is expected to launch it as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. It may sit above the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
