Android 7.0 for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to bring Grace UX and improved features

Samsung was spotted testing Android 7.0-based firmware on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge earlier this week. Now, more information regarding Android Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has been revealed.

Apparently, the Android 7.0 update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will bring Grace UX to the devices, which was previously seen on the Galaxy Note 7. Moreover, the company is planning to bring improved Always On Display features from the Note 7 to the S7 and S7 edge. The new UI seems to be performing smoother than the current software on these devices.

Previously, T-Mobile had shared a list of all the Samsung smartphones receiving the Android Nougat update. Also, Samsung had promised to release Android 7.0 for the Galaxy Note 7 in two to three months. However, the company might postpone this plan due to the exploding battery fiasco.

Galaxy S6 UI is so good.. why Samsung has to bring Grace UX ? I hate those three dots for more menu options.

exploding batteries have nothing to do with Android 7.0 software developement at all, so i don’t see any link or sense that the update will be delay, don’t forget LG V20 is already running Android 7.0 out of the box and its also selling in Korea as well, Samsung need to catch up from the Note7 issue and push out the update fast to match V20 at least. I am not even talking about Nexus lineup here, hope Samsung use the newer Android 7.1 as its base, not Android 7.0

The grace UX should be a note thing now they want to put it on the S series with a nougat update.!!!

The Grace UX should be a Samsung thing, as it is a step further in design, evolution and performance. I still see my Galaxy S5 running android 6.0 with the old touch wiz. I would not buy the Note 7 just because it has a fresh look.
I expect Samsung to bring a little more to the table considering the fiasco with exploding phones.
We should care more about us and about what we get after purchasing a premium device.

No. The note 4 wont get the update. Samsung only update their phone with 2 new generation of android from when the phone was released. The note 4 is done now with updates

You say that like their hands are tied. But the 2 year thing is just their choice, which they can change. I guess it is there because they want to encourage customers to upgrade to the latest model. But here in Europe they have not yet offered a replacement for the Note4. It remains the current flagship Note. As such Samsung should continue (start?) to support it properly and fully. Otherwise the message from Samsung to its entire European Galaxy Note customer base is “our policy is to encourage you to buy a new device every two years, so please… Read more »

Why would the battery issue cause any delay in Note7 getting Nougat? I doubt very much that their software developers will be too busy packing replacement Note7’s in their boxes to their own job. I imagine the shipping department will be doing that. If anything N will come even faster to encourage Note7 sales.

I agree and i even own the s7 edge. But if samsung want to play smart they should try to release android N asap for the note 7. Because of all thouse battery issues
