Are you facing any of these issues with your Galaxy Note 7?

The Galaxy Note 7 is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones that money can buy right now. It has received rave reviews ever since it came out two weeks ago and the vast majority of the people who picked one up appear to be satisfied with the handset. However, some users are facing problems with their Galaxy Note 7, problems that you would not expect from a handset that’s barely two weeks old.

Threads have been started on various forums reporting that some users are experiencing bootloops, crashes and even complete bricking of the Galaxy Note 7 through no apparent fault of their own. PhoneArena shared an image of their office unit which appears to be having trouble booting up as well. We’ve also received reports from users who experienced similar problems. Those who are experiencing these issues say that the handset worked fine for the first couple of days and these problems emerged out of the blue. Apparently trying to reboot the phone into safe mode doesn’t work as well, wiping the cache and complete factory resets don’t seem to be fixing the problem.

Some users who were facing these problems say that certified Samsung shops were also unaware of how to deal with the issues so they are just replacing affected handsets. If the reports are to be believed, the issues appear to be limited to the Exynos variant of the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung has not yet acknowledged the issues so it’s unclear what’s the reason behind all this.

While I feel terrible for the poor people who have bought these phones, it’s just reaffirmed my position in moving away from Samsung. Ever since moving away from the removable battery after the S5 and note 4, the standard of the Samsung phones has plummeted. At the end of October , I’m getting a G5. There’s been minor issues with it like any phone on launch but nothing like the calamitous issues surrounding the S7 edge and now this. It’s a reluctant move to given firstly I had a galaxy ace, then an ace 2, S3 mini, S4 and now… Read more »

Lmao. They’re getting worse than apple. That said, I’d rather have a slightly mis-shapen phone or even bent one than one that explodes. The guys that support Samsung products don’t even know what is going on with them? What kind of geniuses stress test these devices prior to launch? Random bootloops, bottlenecking and even exploding units. Idiots.

I got my Note 7 yesterday. i have the last update and since, the device is rebooting very oftently. especially when you want to use google play.
Samsung support acknoledge that there is a big bug with the last version.
BUT, they cannot change the device because they have no stock… I got it directly from Samsung shop in pre ordering….
Sometimes it’s bad to be the first one. Now i need to wait and i can use it only as a telephone… A little bit expensive.

I have been having major issues with my note 7 for about a week! Freezing during game play, random reboots, not turning on. Sound randomly shutting off and turning back on. Wiped cash, factory reset a few times. I called verizon tonight and I have a new one on the way. This phone has serious problems. Never dropped or abused in any way. I know my way around a phone and I am completely baffled! Pray my new one doesn’t have the same issues. I have 90% storage left, only a few apps and only have 17% ram. Myself and the… Read more »

I had the same problem with my note 7, just a day after i got it, it was a bucle of rebooting with no ending i had to take it to the store where i got it and i´m waiting to get a new one. I´m very disappointed with the brand, i´ve never had a issue like this before with my s6 edge or my s7.

really wonder, is it Android? Samsung? local Samsung for local UI? or local career?
i am in Hong Kong got all my Samsung from either local career or from Samsung direct, i had the Note 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and now the Note 7 also had the S 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 edge and 7 edge. Never had such issue.

Not sure why many hate the Note 7 here. I have the exynos version of device. Upgraded from Note 4, and so far this has the best battery I have ever experienced. I also can’t stand the UI of Note 4 and the laggy software. I haven’t used IR blaster though which seems to be a dealbreaker for others. Also, I still haven’t replaced the battery of my Note 4 so I am not worried having non-removable batt on N7.

Just got my per-ordered Note 7(France N930F). After setting up the google account I did an OTA update. The result…. a boot loop. I tried to fix it with SmartSwitch. Now the phone boots to recovery, but it doesn’t boot to system.
Is this what I paid for 850 euros ?????

It’s not just note 7, even note 5 was the same. I bought it from saudi, after one month of use the display got damaged without having a single scratch on the glass. I was denied of warranty in india, as their policy “dont allow warranty services for products purchased overseas”. Even in Saudi, it was the same, they rejected it by saying another excuse, that since the phone became so thin, it’s fragile and the display may get damaged from small pressure even if kept inside the pocket. I had to replace the display on my own. Now after… Read more »

For anyone who is scared off by these reports, I will say that while my phone clearly is having issues, I haven’t had any luck checking online to find people with similar issues. Except for a handful of dual SIM phones purchased in Dubai, I haven’t read of this happening. It was frustrating because I was hoping to find a solution online. But the T-Mobile site, XDA, Reddit, Android Central, Android Police, etc. had nothing to help me out. They are selling millions of these things and this seems like only a few are having issues. It sucks for the… Read more »

I had previously note 4 and 5 and s7edge and I think they were all great devices but my note 7 I’m very happy with! My son also has one and he doesn’t have any issues with his…my battery life is real good and I don’t have any lag …

God I’m sure glad that I decided to keep my note 4 ….. Quality control has gone way downhill…… Last great Samsung built was the Galaxy Note 4 bar none….. Keep your dual edge.,,,Let’s just hope that they get there shit together for the note 8 and make a flat one or my last one will be my note 4 …. Have been a loyal Samsung customer since the big bag phone days of the late 80’s but could be time for a change….

Not a good sign..Mine will show up on my door step any day now. A black one as well. I hope its ok. I was on the fence about this purchase, but decided to say what the hell, and went for it. I hope that I don’t regret it. Good luck everyone.

How can you buy a new Note 7 when sales have been stopped since a week ago? If you’re getting it from the grey market then buyer beware. Why not wait for the new phones that have been given the green light before purchasing it?

Look at the date I posted that comment. The phone was already in the mail headed to my door. Got it directly from Verizon. Thanks for your concern though.

My T-Mobile Note 7 (Qualcom) randomly reboots. Just like this article states, the phone worked great for the first few days, then it began. I wouldn’t call it a boot loop because it can boot just fine. But it does restart at least 5 times per day. Even if the phone is just sitting on a desk. Happens in Safe Mode too. T-Mobile is overnighting a replacement to me through their “buyer’s remorse” program since it’s been less than 14 days.

Glad someone came up with this, My Note 7 got the same issue as well – Black FD. Sent it to Samsung Service, It was bootlooping. This is probably the worst experience in Samsung I had, as they take more than 7 days to repair one (Yes, Repair – They don’t replace here in Dubai). It’s kind of a bad feeling when your brand new phone comes back from service repaired, and all scraped up around because the Gorilla glass in Note 7 is apparently not “gorilla grade” – but more likely “monkey” or “Chimpanzee” When I was inside the… Read more »

Now I’m more nervous. I was in Dubai Mall and the black variant was not available at that time (due to this reason I suppose) but after 4-5 days I bought it from the airport Duty Free shop. I’m hoping the one I bought was from the new batch. I don’t live in Dubai but the phone has international warranty. I’m not sure if Samsung Pakistan will accept the international warranty or not. Otherwise I’ll have to send the handset to Dubai somehow and go through all the madness you had to go through.

Nope international warranty is not acceptable in Pakistan.
I hope your Note 7 is not a faulty one.
I am planning to buy, but here in Pakistan.

So far its working fine but the problem is the hassle of getting the phone replaced. I called Samsung Pakistan today but they said they can’t promise the replacement. So I contacted Samsung UAE and they said Samsung Pakistan will arrange the replacement for you. We will ask them for replacement. Let’s hope they cooperate with each other and its a smooth replacement

Update OTA until BPH7 hits it. Then do a data restore. If it can survive this, You’re probably ok.

N910 and N915 were the best they’ve had in Note Category. Kinda regretting the decision of letting my N910 go.

I’m not giving my Note 4 up. Samsungs Research and Development team seems to forget the Research part which is what the consumers really want. The IR blaster, the removable battery. Etc. I think the big one for me is the IR blaster there are some really good portable battery packs made by Anker that have adaptive fast charger on them, but nothing that can make it easy to add an IR blaster. I am still sticking with my Note 4.

mattp9222

Definitely wait. I upgraded from a Note 4 and the difference in quality is underwhelming.

Those issues are not a problem. Samsung will give you a new phone. The biggest issue with the Note 7 is that it apparently gets scratched just by looking at it! I’ve just read the first test in Norway from a website that normally worships Samsung when they test new devices. The tester writes that he has never experienced scratches after just one week of use and is quite surprised by how fragile the front and back is. I was planning to buy a Note 7 in October, but after reading all the articles and user comments in forums about… Read more »

I’ve been through 4 AT&T Galaxy Note 7s. They’ve all had intermittent lag right out of the box. The lag sometimes gets so bad that the phone becomes almost unusable.

I’ll be returning the 4th phone too.

It’s as if Samsung didn’t test the phone before releasing it.

Right now I strongly recommend against buying the Note 7. It’s a piece of junk. The Note 5 is faster and performs much better.

Blood Wolfe

That might be from AT&T and their bloatware and crap they do to the phones. I’ve heard AT&T is pretty bad for bloat and messing around with devices. I’m in Canada on the W8 variant and I have no issues and it runs great so far. I upgraded from a Note 4, played with my buddies Note 5 even and so far my Note 7 is just fine even after installing apps and games so I don’t think it’s a Samsung issue but rather AT&T.
