We exclusively revealed earlier this month that Samsung is planning to simplify its smartphone lineup by going with a single-letter naming convention that will make it easier for consumers to keep track of the company's devices. Now, it looks like the first of those devices that follow the new convention has made its way to India for testing. An SM-E500F has been spotted on import tracking site Zauba; Exxx is certainly a new model number range that we haven't seen on any of Samsung's Android smartphones before, meaning the letter E could be one of the upcoming smartphone lineups after the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A3, and the Galaxy A5.
There is no information on the hardware of the SM-E500F, but it's likely it will be an entry-level device. As reported recently, Samsung is working on cutting down on the number of smartphones it will sell in the coming year and focus on the entry-level and mid-range segments, so hopefully the SM-E500F will bring a change in the value that the company's budget phones currently offer for their price.
Abhijeet's writing career started with guides for custom firmware for Samsung devices (including the original Galaxy S), and he moved to SamMobile in mid-2013 and worked up the ranks to Editor-in-chief. In addition to phones and mobile devices, his interests include gaming on both PC and console, PC hardware, and spending countless hours on YouTube watching videos on tech, movies, games, politics, and internet dramas.
