Is Samsung exiting from the laptop market?

Apart from the ATIV Book 9 and the ATIV Book M, there have been no new laptops from Samsung this year which has raised suspicions about their stance on the laptop market. Now, AllAboutSamsung is reporting that they have been officially able to confirm that Samsung has discontinued development of laptops without providing an explanation why it did so, though it is possible that they are now prioritizing tablets over laptops for greater growth. It is also possible that Samsung might resume making laptops depending on how their tablet business moves forward. Take this with a pinch of salt till Samsung releases an official statement from about their laptop business.

As above, they’ve left the building. Shame really as the series 9 was a helluva thing 🙁

Is Samsung exiting? Just to add some more to this speculation: They have left the building.

Samsung are not selling ANY new laptops in the Nordic region. Strange if you know anything at all about the economics in the Nordic region. If you live in the Nordics and want an ATIV, you have to hurry before the shops are sold out. No new shipment from Samsung to shops.

As long as some of their tablets run windows 8 and have a keyboard dock, I’m fine with that 🙂

They’d be smart to considering the laptop market is down by some estimates over 50%, and has continued to decline as tablets/slate pc become more popular. My note 12.2 pro completely replaced my MacBook pro and Samsung i7 laptops. I use the note pro constantly while my combine 4500 dollar laptops sit collecting dust. Samsung would be smart to start making more high end powerful tablet pc and abandon the laptop arena imo
