This month's Galaxy Unpacked event will bring a new foldable phone series and a couple of refreshed Galaxy Watches. Today, ahead of the July 22 unveiling, Samsung has started teasing its upcoming smart wearables.
Before you get too excited, Samsung hasn't revealed anything concrete about what it calls “the next evolution of Galaxy Watch” and didn't even name the upcoming wearables.
Instead, today's teaser focuses mainly on AI, although details are still scarce.
That is how Samsung describes its upcoming Galaxy Watches. Although they've always been capable of tracking your activities and wellbeing, Samsung says the 2026 models will deliver intelligent, AI-driven health insights.
What exactly does that mean? Time will tell, but Samsung says its upcoming smartwatch:
…is evolving to help us better understand and proactively manage our health in real time.
While today's announcement revolved around AI for the most part, Samsung also slipped in an interesting detail. One paragraph mentions:
Powered by all-new internal components and enhanced battery life, the upcoming Watch is built to track your health longer and with greater accuracy.
Note that Samsung used “Watch,” singular. It could be just a way to refer to the whole series, or it may indicate that the best upgrades have been reserved for the most premium model, i.e., the Watch Ultra 2.
Previous leaks suggested the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will indeed have a larger battery, boasting a couple hundred extra mAh compared to the current Watch Ultra.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may also feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip.
Samsung will unveil what it calls “the next evolution of Galaxy Watch” at Unpacked on July 22.
Leaks indicate the company won't release a new Classic model this year and that the 2026 lineup will consist of only two variants: a refreshed base Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. This in keeping with its recent tradition of skipping a model with a rotating bezel every other year.
