When the conflict between Russia and Ukraine started back in 2022, many global companies suspended their operations in Russia and many are yet to return.

Samsung did end up suspending sales of its smartphones, chips, and other products in the Russian Federation back in March 2022, but it appears that the company might be laying the groundwork for one day return to the market.

Samsung isn't back in the market just yet

There has been a flurry of activity over the past few months to bring about an end to the conflict. Talks are taking place between major world powers to find a way forward. If the conflict does end, there's a possibility that many global companies may restart their operations in Russia. Samsung would have to make that choice as well.

Many companies have started speeding up their trademark registrations in Russia, likely in anticipation of a quick return to the market once things are settled. Korean media reports that Samsung is also registering new trademarks in the country.

It has recently registered two trademarks, one for Samsung Neo QLED which covers its premium TVs and the other for Moving Style, which is its portable monitor lineup. These trademark rights will be valid until August 2034 and April 2035, respectively.

Samsung isn't officially back in Russia just yet but laying the groundwork will ensure that it can quickly gets things rolling again once the decision is made by major companies to restart their operations in the country.
