Samsung Electronics has completed the acquisition of Europe's largest HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) company, FläktGroup, which TM Roh called a “strategic move […] aimed at leading the global HVAC and data center markets.”
What does the industrial HVAC company have to do with TM Roh's Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics? The answer is that Samsung aims to merge its AI platforms with FläktGroup's expertise.
Samsung says it will nurture the HVAC business “as a new growth engine within the DX Division” by continuously investing in commercial HVAC solutions and expanding into AI data centers.
Through this acquisition, FläktGroup's subsidiaries have also become a part of Samsung Electronics. These include:
Samsung says that FläktGroup's name, existing personnel, management, and facilities will be maintained. The company will operate as an independent Samsung subsidiary, preserving its brand identity and expertise.
Samsung is also looking to integrate its new subsidiary's advanced HVAC control systems with its own building management platforms, such as SmartThings Pro and b.IoT.
FläktGroup's CEO stated that “The synergy between our companies will be a major turning point in developing future-oriented HVAC solutions.”
Demand for large-scale AC systems for large factories, hospitals, commercial complexes, and biopharmaceutical facilities is on the rise in markets like Korea, Europe, and North America.
Through this partnership, Samsung says it wants to establish a robust supply chain in each region.
